Elbrus 2013 – The Challenge

Elbrus_exped_logoHot on the heels of Trek & Mountain’s successful ‘Kili The Hard Way’ expedition in January ’13 comes our next adventure featuring you, our readers!

On August 9th-19th 2013, a team of 12 readers plus Trek & Mountain will be heading to Russia to climb Europe’s highest peak, Mt Elbrus. Normally climbed from either the north or the south sides, our expedition will be going one step further – by traversing the mountain from north to south. This adds an extra dimension to the trip as team members will have to carry kit above high camp and over to the south side after summiting.

The Trek & Mountain Elbrus 2013 expedition is proud to be backed by Berghaus, the UK’s biggest outdoor brand, and team members will be taking key items of Berghaus kit to keep them warm in the freezing temperatures that will be encountered on Elbrus. The exped is being organised by Adventure Alternative who are Mt Elbrus specialists, and have a great success rate on the mountain.

You can follow the team’s preparations for the expedition within the pages of Trek & Mountain, online here at www.trekandmountain.com and via our Facebook and Twitter feeds – and of course we’ll be posting live updates (as much as local comms allow) from Russia during the expedition itself. Next up is the team’s training weekend in Snowdonia on the 28-30th June, but before then we’ll be introducing you to the team members in the next update.

CHECK BACK HERE SOON TO MEET THE TEAM!
