Fjallraven launch G-Loft Supreme insulation

Scandinavian outdoor clothing expert Fjällräven has launched a new type of synthetic insulation they’re calling G-Loft Supreme. Developed in conjunction with Austrian insulation experts Goldeck Textil, G-Loft Supreme according to Fjällräven “offers the exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio of down, combined with the wet-weather functionality of synthetic insulation.”

G-Loft Supreme is made from a mix of hollow and super-thin polyester fibres, and has an innovative construction that, similarly to down, results in countless small air pockets each trapping warm air for effective insulation against cold temperatures. However, unlike down which can lose functionality in wet weather, G-Loft Supreme retains its warming abilities even in very wet weather. An ideal choice for UK weather conditions it would seem, G-Loft Supreme is also highly compressible and lightweight for easy storage inside a pack when not being used.

One of the first products to make use of G-Loft Supreme is the Keb Loft Jacket (above), which has a full-length front zipper featuring 2-way opening for adjustable ventilation, and is protected by a poppered storm flap. Elasticated cuffs and drawcord adjustment at the hem ensure a comfortable fit and two zipped hand pockets are ideal for storing smaller essentials.

We’re keen to see how G-Loft Supreme compares against other synthetic insulation on the market, so look out for a review soon!
