Kendal Mountain Festival – early news

Although the ever-popular Kendal Mountain Festival is still just a speck on this year’s horizon, here at Trek & Mountain we’ve got some early insider news to share. In addition to numerous new adventure film screenings, premieres, outdoor speakers and snowsports, this year’s event will play host to a number of special guests.

BBC adventurer and presenter Paul Rose, an experienced expedition leader who spent 10 years stationed in Antarctica, will make an appearance to speak of his new BBC documentary Frank Wild: Antarctica’s Forgotten Hero, showcasing the inspiring journey of the polar explorer. Joining him will be 89-year-old American mountaineer Fred Beckey, who has  hundreds of first ascents to his name as well as a life’s worth of climbing experience from his travels to share.

Also lined up for the stage are two of Europe’s top women climbers, two-times world champion Liv Sansoz and winner of the ice climbing world cup Ines Papert, along with German alpinist Robert Jasper who will take to the stage on Marmot Night with the tale of his recent ascent of the ‘Shark’s Fin’.

Tickets for the festival, held from 15-18th November go on sale next month.
