Ueli Steck speed ascents lecture at RGS

Join elite mountaineer and athlete Ueli Steck this winter for a London-based presentation on his speed ascents in the Alps and Himalayas, following a year of pioneering solo alpine climbs and high altitude mountaineering.

The presentation will take place on December 11th at London’s Royal Geographical Society Hall, with Steck’s inspirational talk starting at 7pm. A question and answer session will follow, giving you the chance to uncover the drive and passion behind the world-renowned climber.

Best known for speed climbing the Eiger, the Grandes Jorasses and the Matterhorn in 2009, Steck also won a Piolet d’or for the first ascent of Tengkampoche (6500m) – before undergoing intense physical training in 2010 for his upcoming Shishapangma and Cho Oyu speed climbs.

In May this year, Steck speed-climbed Mount Everest with friend Tenzing Sherpa – without the use of oxygen. Days later, he managed to both ascend and paraglide from the Jungfrau, Monch and the Eiger in the Bernese Alps with a time of just 12 hours.

Tickets for the event are £12 and can be booked online at: www.worldexpeditions.co.uk
