Cicerone release new Inca Trails guide

Peru Book RESIZED

Outdoor publisher Cicerone have recently released a new guidebook detailing hiking trails across Peru’s Sacred Valley.

The book, Hiking and Biking Peru’s Inca Trails, describes 40 routes, some previously unpublished, taking in the major Incan sites of Cusco, Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Vilcabamba and the region circling 6,384m high Mt. Ausangate.

Seven different treks to reach Machu Picchu are also listed, including the famous Inca Trail. The title’s introduction covers the local culture and historical background of the area, while chapters are divided into 6 geographical locations. Each route contains a short summary, detailed instructions of the route itself, whether it’s best to hike or bike, a map and colour illustrations.

Other topics include advice on whether to take a local guide or join a trekking agency for ascents depending on the safety of the area and recommended kit.
