New from Garmin: Tactix GPS watch

GARMIN WATCH
Garmin have announced their latest bit of kit – the new Tactix GPS Navigator and ABC Watch – due for release next month.

Built to withstand even the most extreme of outdoor activities, including trekking, mountaineering and even skydiving, the new black, stealth watch can handle shock and impact, with its scratch-resistant stainless steel rear casing , and it’s said to cope well with adverse weather conditions.

Waterproof down to 50 metres, the Tactix features an altimeter, barometer, 3-axis compass, large LCD display, tracking capabilities and a built-in GPS system. The device is claimed to run for 50 hours in GPS mode or five weeks when used as a regular watch, and it has ANT+ and Bluetooth wireless capabilities, a stealth matte finish, curved lens and green backlight.

Further functions include alarms, tones, alerts, timer, stopwatch and a world clock with several time zones. Its navigational toolset allows users to plan trips, create routes and record waypoints, while the compatible BaseCamp mobile app lets owners share their adventures. The GPS Navigator can also be used as a remote for the new Garmin VIRB action camera.

The watch is priced at £390 and will be available from November this year.
