Win Grivel G22 crampons

G22

We have 3 pairs of Grivel’s latest crampons to give away – read on to find out how you could win a pair

Grivel were responsible for making the first modern crampons in 1909, manufactured to English engineer Oskar Eckenstein’s designs, and their range today includes specialist models for everything from ski touring to winter walking, from classic alpine mountaineering to extreme ice climbing and drytooling.

The G22 is the latest model to enter the Grivel range and it is positioned towards the top of the range – perfect for ice climbing and mixed routes in Scotland or the Alps for example, but also usable as a general mountaineering crampon. The G22 is the twin-front-pointed evolution of the revolutionary G20 monopoint model. Patented Mono-Rail technology distributes the points in an intelligent and original way and, as there’s only one bar running up the middle of the crampon, weight is saved and penetrating power is increased too: a single straight bar directs force into the hot-forged front points.

The G22 is available with either Cramp-O-Matic or New-Matic bindings. The New-Matic uses the same rear bale and lever as on the C-O-M, teaming them with a plastic harness system, hinged from two front posts, which retain the boot securely even if it has a shallow, worn front welt or if overboots are being used. Alternatively the Cramp-O-Matic bindings use a stainless steel front bale that’s quick to put on.
