The European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA) – a charity comprising 110 outdoor companies (including Trek & Mountain) which works to raise money to protect and restore wild spaces – has released details of its accomplishments in 2013.

So far this year, the EOCA have seen a 39% growth in membership, while their website has counted 134,600 visits. The charity now has more than 2,500 followers on Facebook and 500 on Twitter meaning their message can now spread to a much wider audience. During the European Outdoor Conservation Association’s spring vote – which allows the public to vote for conservation projects they would like to see receive funding – 57,000 votes were recorded, and in total €181,000 committed to future projects.

Joint General Managers of EOCA, Tanya Bascombe and Catherine Savidge, said: “2013 has been a fantastic year for EOCA. We are absolutely thrilled to be able to plan a second funding round for next year.  But, at the end of the day, our message is simple – every single new member for EOCA means more money goes into conservation.  And that is what it’s all about.”

Funded by membership costs and fundraising alone, the association is open to anyone that can demonstrate an involvement with the outdoor industry.
