The North Face, in association with Snow+Rock and the Ski Club of Great Britain will be running a lecture series on avalanche awareness during November and December. Having sufficient knowledge of avalanche risk is critical to remain safe when winter mountaineering or skiing off-piste in the mountains and, experienced or not, this lecture is a great chance to gain/refresh that knowledge.

Ian Sherrington, Chief Instructor at Glenmore Lodge will be giving a the lecture series, during which topics covered include the areas that influence the avalanche dynamic; snow-pack, weather, terrain and human factors, the importance and skills of good planning, successful behaviour in the mountains, and the use of technology in avalanche awareness and rescue. Ian’s personal experience in the mountain environment and the extent of his knowledge will make this lecture interesting, memorable and incredibly valuable for anyone venturing into the back-country this winter.
