A new charity called ‘The Robertson Outdoor Bursary (ROB)’ has just been launched at a special event in collaboration with Cotswold Outdoor in London.

R.O.B
is fundraising to make grants to pay for the training and education of porters and guides in Tanzania and other developing countries to enable them to gain employment and promotion. and give them a sustainable means for them to develop their career in outdoor activities. This will support them to improve their own lives and that of their families into the future.

The Charity also wants to help porters and guides by making sure they are properly equipped to do their job on the mountain, by ensuring they have access to the right technical outdoor clothes. It’s virtually impossible to buy these in Tanzania and what is available is beyond a porters purse. Therefore R.O.B is collecting new or second hand kit that they are arranging to be distributed to to the porters and guides.

Trek & Mountain is delighted to add our support and best wishes to ROB. If you want to learn more about this great charity or donate visit their website www.robertsonoutdoorbursary.org
