Myanmar, also known as Burma, has expanded their new e-Visa system, to include arrivals at the international airports of Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw, in addition to Yangon, where it was originally introduced.

As of September, British passport holders travelling to Myanmar can take advantage of the country’s new electronic option to apply for a Visa. The e-Visa is valid for a single entry and up to 28 days after entering the country and it must be used within three months from the date of issue; those who had previously received e-Visas for entry at Yangon are also permitted to enter through Mandalay or Nay Pyi Taw.

These changes to Myanmar’s new e-Visa system will give British passport holders far more versatility when travelling to and from the country. For travellers wishing to incorporate overland travel and reduce the number of domestic flights required, the additional entry points will allow travellers to explore the region far more easily.

So far, 67 nationalities are eligible for the e-Visa, with more points of entry expected to be announced in due course. Applications can be submitted at www.myanmarevisa.gov.mm and cost US$50 (approx. £30). It takes three days to get the approval letter, which must be printed as it will be required to board international flights and then submitted to immigration upon arrival.
