2,000 new European walking routes available on ViewRanger app

ViewRanger (1 of 1)ViewRanger, the offline mapping and navigation app, has partnered with outdoor guide publisher, Bergverlag Rother.

The new partnership will mean that more than 2,000 new Alpine and European walking route guides will be available through the app. Immediately available are Mallorca (70 routes), Gran Canaria (72 routes) and Eifel (70 routes) in western Germany.

The app allows you to plot your own route or download one from the library which includes trail guides from guidebooks, authors and tourism partners. Users can download individual routes from each guide book as well as access the group of routes as a Route Collection. It offers your mapped location, navigation alerts and view real time stats, even when there’s no mobile signal.

More than 25 Rother guide books will become available in the coming weeks and will include routes for experienced hikers as well as family-friendly hikes. The guide books cover all regions of the Alps and many other popular European destinations.

Aside from providing detailed routes, ViewRanger also allows you to create a record of your adventure which you can instantly share to Facebook or Twitter and even add photos. You can download the free app for Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, Android smartphones and tablets, Amazon Kindle, and Android Wear smartwatches.
