Trek & Mountain 'Khumbu 3 Peaks 2016 Expedition' announced

P1300430

Trek & Mountain has announced its most ambitious expedition for readers of the magazine yet: to climb not one – but THREE – 6,000m trekking peaks in the Khumbu Valley in spring 2016.

The triple crown of the Khumbu Valley is an enviable mission taking on Mera Peak, Island Peak and Lobuche in one fantastic adventure of a lifetime. All three of these fantastic peaks breaches the 6,000m mark to take you onto their respective glaciers towards their summits. Where most people attempt just one of these at a time, the sense of accomplishment and achievement you will feel of taking on all three in one go will be like no other. The experience of climbing in these magnificent surroundings with your strong and loyal Sherpa team will be unforgettable, the immersion into the Nepali culture totally absorbing.

Nepal more than ever needs trekkers and mountaineers to visit the country, and our expedition will be led by 360 Expeditions’ head guide, Rolfe Oostra, who was at Camp 1 on Everest when the devastating avalanche hit Nepal and caused the huge avalanche that swept through Everest Base Camp. Tragically, Rolfe lost three of his Sherpa colleagues in the avalanche and yet he is determined to return to Nepal in 2016 to be part of the rebuilding process that will inevitably rely heavily on tourism.
