Trek & Mountain 'Matterhorn Special' out now!

 

TREK63_OFC150 years ago today, Edward Whymper and his team stood on the top of the Matterhorn, thereby bringing to an end an incredible 10-year period of mountaineering achievements now known as the Golden Age of Alpinism.

To celebrate this landmark, Trek & Mountain releases a special edition of the magazine, in which Stephen Venables retells the dramatic events of the first ascent, which began with success as Whymper and his team reached the summit, but ended in tragedy as four members of the team fell to their death.
