Planning to trek Corsica’s GR20? Here’s our complete list of gear to take…

When planning your kit for the GR20, one decision to make is whether to carry camping gear or to sleep in refuges. If you’re going in the peak months (July and August) you should definitely carry a tent as you can’t pre-book refuges and so a bed can’t be guaranteed. Another decision is whether to carry food or not, and of course this will affect your pack weight significantly. We carried enough freeze-dried food for a week, but a good option is to eat at refuges and bergeries when you can, but also carry a few emergency meals in your pack ‘just in case’. If trekking early in the season (May), you’ll also need to carry crampons, ice-axe and warmer clothing as there is likely to be snow and ice on the high passes.

Hi Krzystof, yes we couldn’t find screw-thread canisters in Corsica so we suggest you take something like Edelrid’s adaptor which will allow you to use pierceable cartridges such as Camping Gaz which are easy to find.

Two questions. I can see that you were using MSR reactor. Is there a problem there in Corsica to purchase a gas cartridge with the screw on top ?
How much gas will I roughly need for the whole route ?
