Colorado-based camping and apparel brand Sierra Designs have announced the Meteor 3000 backpacking tent, a well-featured model which comes in three sizes and appears to offer excellent value-for-money.
Coming in 2-person (£250), 3-person (£290) and 4-person (£345) versions, the Meteor 3000 uses two DAC Press Fit poles to create a spacious interior, with solid 15D liner walls for wind protection and a 3000mm flysheet for coping with wet northern European conditions. The design offers plenty of functionality too, with two entrances and two vestibules.
Weight-wise, the Meteor models are decently light if not featherweight – with trail weights of 1790g (2-person), 2210g (3-person) and 2520g (4-person), and useable interior space is as follows: 2.77m2 (2-person), 3.79m2 (3-person) and 5.11m2 (4-person).
We’ll be testing the 2-person version of the Meteor 3000 in the coming weeks, so watch this space!
