Outdoor specialist Whitby & Co has announced the addition of two new brands to its portfolio. The Kendal based business has secured exclusive UK & Eire distribution rights for Vapur’s range of hydration products and UK and EU distribution for the wearable sleeping bags made by Selk’bag.
Whitby & Co will be selling the latest collections by both companies from spring 2021, alongside the other brands that it distributes, including Leatherman, Klean Kanteen, Princeton Tec, Buck and its own Whitby products.
California-based Vapur, Inc., founded in 2009, makes handheld, collapsible hydration products. The company is driven by a commitment to design, innovation and eco-responsibility and a mission to make single use water bottles obsolete. Starting as a passion-filled hobby of three outdoor enthusiasts, Vapur has since sparked a hydration revolution and an international foldable bottle trend. Its products are designed to stand when full and can be rolled, folded or flattened when empty, making them easy to use and carry on any adventure.
Sustainability is at the heart of Vapur’s ethos – not only does the brand aim to eliminate the need for single use plastic bottles, but it also uses less energy to make and transport than equivalent rigid bottles. The company’s Drops of Hope community giving programme has donated thousands of bottles to charitable groups worldwide.
Originating in Chile in 2009, Selk’bag is the original wearable sleeping bag brand, designed to support freedom of movement during outdoor and indoor activities, no matter the conditions. Named for the lost Selk’Nam natives of Tierra del Fuego, Selk’bag has a rich history of innovation, technical proficiency, and design excellence, gaining worldwide recognition from its inception to today. Providing maximum mobility, comfort, versatility and warmth, Selk’bags are ideal for use on camping trips, backpacking adventures, for stargazing and on road trips, as well as for lounging at home.
With a commitment to environmental sustainability, Selk’bag is a member of 1% for the Planet, donating a percentage of annual sales to support environmental causes. The brand has also committed to changing its manufacturing process so that all of its range is made from post-consumer recycled materials by 2023.
Phil Ellwood, managing director of Whitby & Co, comments: “Vapur and Selk’bag are excellent additions to the Whitby & Co portfolio. Both offer distinctive, high quality products for the outdoor market that complement our other brands very well, and their commitment to sustainability really resonates with our team. We look forward to offering specialist retailers an even broader range of great products that will appeal to a growing number of outdoor enthusiasts as we head towards spring and summer.”
