News, Product News,

The North Face has introduced the latest product to be inspired by its Circular Design initiative, the Circaloft Jacket. Made from 100% recycled materials, the Circaloft is “there to be impossibly light and intentionally warm, the effortlessly packable warm jacket is built for exploring again and again, keeping the good going”, according to the brand. They continue, “The insulated jacket provides the warmth you’d expect with but at an impossibly light weight. The packability ensures that you can take it on any adventure. Stow it in your bag for when you reach the summit of your hike or wear it on those autumn days where the weather starts out cold before the sun warms the trails.

The North Face cites the fact that every year, 66% of discarded textiles end up in landfills in the United States (and more than likely a similar figure in the UK), and that their commitment to ‘circular design’ is intended to reduce that figure. They say: “Sustainability isn’t a side project. It’s central to everything we do. From designing recyclable products for the next adventure to protecting wild places for the next generation, we’re committed to exploration without compromise. This season is no different. The North Face continue creating gear with circular design principals woven throughout. Key products are reimagined and circularity is kept at the forefront of minds when developing new ideas. This means that styles are redesigned to ensure once they’ve reached the end of their long life, they’re fully recyclable. This is exploration without compromise. Earth doesn’t create waste. The North Face doesn’t want to either. Explore hard, repair as needed, leave the labels attached and then drop it back to store when you’re finished to keep the circle going.”

There’s a whole section on The North Face’s website dedicated to Circular Design and what it means in practice, so do check it out if you have a spare few minutes. And in the meantime, the  jacket is available to purchase from 14th September at www.thenorthface.co.uk  and in select The North Face stores.
