“There’s an explorer in all of us,” says Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and the brains behind new website Explorers Connect are hoping to provide a forum and meeting place for adventure-minded people everywhere.
The site is the brainchild of television director Belinda Kirk, who also holds a Guinness world record as part of the first all-women crew to row unaided around Britain. The online platform and social network is specifically designed for explorers and those involved with expeditions and adventurous outdoor pursuits. Essentially it’s a free web forum which enables its members – from enthusiastic amateurs to professional experts – to share and exchange information, recruit team mates, review and recommend equipment and suppliers and to follow the trials and tribulations of intrepid souls across the globe.
Belinda explains: “Because Explorers Connect was founded and is managed by the same people who use it, it’s a trusted source of advice and information. Whether you plan to conquer Everest or a personal challenge, follow a dream or the latest expedition news, raise money or self-esteem, need info or inspiration, or just want to share your interest with heroes and friends, Explorers Connect makes the world a bigger place.”
Belinda hopes to create the world’s biggest online community of adventurers, and already has backing from some of the most famous names in the game, including Ran Fiennes (“With this fast growing and friendly community, there’s real scope for us all to participate, to inspire and to be inspired – to push some boundaries!”) and Bear Grylls (“…we all need a little help sometimes – it is about sharing skills, knowledge and resources with like-minded folk and making the world both smaller and bigger!”)
So if you need to some inspiration for your next adventure, or are looking for teammates for an expedition, or want to join an expedition, head over to Explorers Connect without further delay!
