With a cold snap seeing temperatures plunging to as low as minus 8C (18F), it seems a mere sprinkling of snow has been sending parts of the UK into meltdown – but for mountaineers and those wanting to enjoy the hills in winter-time, the prospect of a cold winter is positively mouthwatering. This winter, for the first time, we are offering T&M readers the chance to attend a selecton of winter skills courses on Ben Nevis, run by training experts Peak Mountaineering – all offering exceptional value for money.
There are four courses to choose from depending on your level of experience. The two-day winter skills course (Feb 23-24) teaches you the key skills needed to feel confident venturing into the winter environment. The three-day winter skills course (Feb 23-25) offers an additional day where we’ll head off for a mountain journey, allowing you to consolidate the skills covered. There is also a two day Snow Shelter course, (March 21-22)) where you learn how to build a shelter. Finally there’s the three day Winter Mountaineering course. (March 23-25) for those who already have basic crampon and ice axe skills and are keen to progress onto climbing graded winter routes.
We are offering all the courses at a much-reduced rate, so if you have ever wanted to get some winter skills, either for going on an overseas trek or for mountaineering in Scotland, then now’s the time to take the plunge!
