Leading German outdoor brand Vaude have announced plans to launch several significant new products for Spring 2014, and they will see the light of day for the first time at the upcoming Outdoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, this July.
The real headline-grabber is their new Lizard GUL (which stands for Giga Ultra Light) tent which weighs in at an incredible 600g. Vaude say that to achieve this they have had to push the boundaries of current tent technologies and that the tent demonstrates their groundbreaking innovation in this area. The Lizard GUL features a carbon half-length pole of which one end is planted in the ground on a metal spike and kept under tension by the fabric – much like a windsurf sail mast – which forms the structure of the tent. The fabric is an incredible 10 denier siliconized Ripstop nylon, which is only possible to use reliably in tent construction due to the use of VAUDEs patented cold taping technology.
There’s also news of a three new trekking rucksacks in the Astrum range. Re-built from the ground up, the new packs feature a new ‘Tergolight’ back system which can be adjusted to custom-fit the wearer without having to remove the pack, through a pull loop at the back on the hipbelt. These lightweight asymmetric packs weigh as low as 1.5kg, and offer supreme levels of comfort for backpackers with an impressive list of features and fresh, modern colours and styling.
