Envirotrek Clean Up Series 2013

Envirotrek RESIZED
This summer, more than 500 people gave up their time to help clean Europe’s mountains as part of Envirotrek – a series of group walks to remove waste and promote healthy mountain environments.

For the fifth year running clean ups took place across Europe, including France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and the UK, through the combined efforts of 565 mountain tourists and locals of all ages – compared to just 100 people in 2009.

Produced by Respect The Mountains, an organisation that creates awareness of sustainable mountain tourism, and KEEN Footwear, Envirotrek managed to clear over 2600 kilos of waste, finding everything from scrap metal to car doors.

Participants started each day with a cleanup activity, before taking on an adventurous mountain sport in the afternoon to remind them of the importance of maintaining these majestic landscapes for all to enjoy.
