Setting off from the jungles of Khun Khan National Park and continuing over ridgelines and forest covered hills, the eight-day long Old Elephant Trail Trek passes through Thailand’s northern hinterlands, close to the border of Myanmar, and takes in mountain top views from some of the country’s most remote areas.
Further south there’s the opportunity to climb the active twin volcanoes of Welirang and Arjuna on World Expeditions’ eight-day long Volcanoes of East Java tour, before heading for the summit of Mount Bromo. Dramatic mountain ranges and more than 40 active volcanoes will dominate the skyline as trekkers make their way to neighbouring Bali for ancient temples and tea plantations.
