The British Mountaineering Council are soon to launch a series of subsidised courses tailored to help students and freshers get the most out of climbing and hill walking.
Set to launch in 2014, the two-day long courses will aim to provide novice club members with the skills to become self-sufficient out on the hills. Tuition will take place at the National Mountain Sports Centre in Plas y Brenin, North Wales, with participants studying under fully qualified outdoor staff.
Students can choose to focus on climbing, scrambling or hill walking during the training days, or are able to mix and match for a wide variety of skill sets. Subsidised by the BMC’s Sport England fund, courses will cost £80 per person and include self-catering accommodation and transport. Each can cater for up to 16 students, with course start dates so far including: 28 February 2014, 14 March 2014, 21 March 2014, and 28 March 2014.
To book, contact Plas y Brenin on 01690 720214.
