Tickets are selling fast for the first Trek & Mountain Winter Weekender, in association with DMM and Sprayway, taking place on March 1-3 2014 at the epicentre of British winter mountaineering – Ben Nevis and Glen Coe.
So, what’s it all about then? Well the weekend (Sat/Sun/Mon) is a chance to improve your winter mountaineering skills, whatever level you’re at, in a friendly atmosphere with comfortable accommodation and amid the spectacular surroundings of the Highlands. You can choose from three courses – Winter Skills, Winter Mountaineering or Winter Climbing – and there will be free sessions on using fixed ropes (ideal for any of you looking to do Himalayan trekking peaks or climbing) and avalanche awareness.
It’s not all ‘work’ though. We’ve got plenty of evening entertainment planned, with our mountain quiz on the Sunday night, with great prizes from DMM and Sprayway to be won, plus a special appearance by leading British high-altitude mountaineer Adele Pennington, who will be talking about her successes on some of the world’s highest peaks.
The cost of the weekend depends on the course you sign up for – see below – and all courses are delivered by the experts at Peak Mountaineering, with an instructor ratio of 2:1 for the advanced courses.
