The programme for Keswick Mountain Festival 2014 has been announced, with a full line-up of outdoor activities, live music, expert speakers, adventure films and sporting events set to take place this Spring.
Running from 15 – 18 May in the heart of the Lake District National Park, the four-day event will play host to climbing big name and high altitude mountaineer Alan Hinkes and fell runner Joss Naylor, who are set to inspire crowds with outdoor themed talks, presentations and question and answer sessions. On Friday evening, legendary adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes will take to the stage to host a night of adventure and exploration, before talks with Olympic open water swimmer Keri-Anne Payne and world champion Ironman triathlete Chrissie Wellington take place on Saturday in the festival theatre.
Trail running, triathlons, open water swims and cycling events will run throughout the weekend, while a range of guided walks will give walkers of all ability levels the chance to explore the Lakeland fells. Family based activities at the Festival Village on Crow Park will include mountain biking, climbing, zorbing and slacklining, while the Adventure Theatre and Mountain Hut will offer entertainment, talks and interactive workshops covering a range of outdoor skills.
Festival director, Lucy Scrase, said: ‘’This is definitely our most exciting programme ever. The addition of live music and camping brings a new dimension to Keswick Mountain Festival, while the line up of speakers, sporting events and outdoor activities offers great variety and will appeal to the many people who have returned to the festival year after year. It is set to be the best event in the festival’s history’’.
