British mountain apparel brand Jöttnar has launched four new products to its range, all designed for use in the harshest conditions of Scotland and abroad.
“Clean lines, disciplined design and attention to detail are Jöttnar’s hallmarks – it’s a marriage of form and function, without compromise.” ~ Tommy Kelly, former Royal Marine and Jöttnar co-founder.
The first new product is the Fenrir; a lightweight, water-repellent down jacket, insulated with premium grey goose 850 Fill Power hydrophobic down from DOWN-TEK™. This garment is designed to be highly versatile, ideal not only for the cold-dry conditions of Super-Alpine climbing in the Alps, but also suitable for the cold and humid conditions of the Scottish winter. The Fenrir retails for £200.
And next, the Hymir; an “ultra-lightweight waterproof and breathable shell”. At only 230g (men’s medium) and constructed from 3-layer Polartec® Neoshell®, this technical smock is designed as lightweight protection from the worst weather. Trekkers and mountaineers will know how critical a well-designed hood is; stopping to adjust the hood mid-swing on an ice-climbing pitch or when being hammered by snow is far from ideal. Luckily, the Hymir’s hood is constructed with wire-stiffening and a mould-able peak. The Hymir retails for £230.
The Garm is a technical soft-shell jacket. Constructed from lightweight, highly breathable and water resistant FUSION-PRO™ fabric, this garment is designed to be a main active layer in one’s clothing system. With smart features such as a soft fleece backing, streamlined cut and one-handed or elastic hem draw-cord operation, the Garm seems to be designed with practical, demanding use in mind. The Garm retails for £220.
Finally, the Uller; a high-performance yak wool base layer. According to Jöttnar, yak wool provides superior warmth, breathability and moisture transfer compared to merino, and delivers built in odour resistance. Flatlocked seams, stand up soft collar and quarter-venting chest zip further aid comfort and versatility. The Uller retails for £90.
“The new range has been developed through a lengthy design process and every item subjected to unremitting testing in the most demanding conditions. The whole process is underpinned by the best technology, using the highest quality accessories and craftsmanship we could find. ~ Tommy Kelly, former Royal Marine and Jöttnar co-founder.
Available directly from Jöttnar, the brand is continuing to expand its footprint in the UK and Europe, partnering with a number of selected, specialist retailers. For more information visit: www.jottnar.com.
