Kilian Jornet has set the fastest ever time for the ascent and descent of Aconcagua (6,962m) in Argentina. He clocked a round trip time of 12 hours 49 minutes on the normal route. Departing and arriving from Horcones, he covered 59.85km and 3,962m of height gain.
This is the penultimate challenge of Jornet’s Summits of My Life project that began in 2012 and he aims to finish in 2015 with the record attempt of Mt Everest.
“I am so happy for achieving this new challenge. It was hard, especially after 6.500m where I suffered hard from altitude. At the end all those moments of joy and sufferance are the ones that we remember” stated Kilian..
