Meindl X-SO 30 GTX
Hiking footwear containing Gore-Tex’s Surround technology is now available at some of the UK’s biggest retailers, including Ellis Brigham and Cotswold Outdoor. The new technology allows for all-around breathability while ensuring the waterproofness of the shoe or boot.
Gore-Tex Surround allows moisture to escape through the Gore-Tex laminate into the open structure of a spacer and out through side vents, keeping the wearer’s feet drier.
Popular among retailers stocking Gore-Tex Surround products are the men’s and women’s X-SO 30 GTX Surround shoes from Meindl, which contain a Gore-Tex Surround lining, upper ventilation mesh and an Air-Active waffle EVA foot bed. Meidl also makes the X-SO 70 Mid GTX boots which are ideal for hiking during the warmer months. Both versions have Magic Active soles providing traction on mixed terrain.
Salewa Alp Flow GTX
Other models that are widely available include the Scarpa Oxygen shoe, in both men’s and women’s styles, and the Salewa Alp Flow GTX which is available in low and mid versions for both men and women.
