Fjallraven ambassadors Ray Mears and Simon Reeve are set to appear as headline speakers at this year’s Kendal Mountain Festival. Taking place in a brand-new, virtual format for its fortieth anniversary, the festival will take place online over 10 days between 19th-29th November and will feature its now-renowned blend of outdoor films, live events, guest speakers, interviews and more.
Cut loose from any geographical ties, the festival organisers hope that this year’s online event will be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts both across the entire UK and all over the world. As one of the festival’s partners, Fjallraven is pleased to be able to support the event by collaborating with it to present headline talks from travel writer and presenter, Simon Reeve and survivalist, author and outdoor expert, Ray Mears.
Ray Mears
Taking place on Friday 20th November at 7.30pm, this exclusive interview with Ray will be hosted by Geoff Bird. As one of the UK’s most prominent survival and outdoor experts, within Ray’s talk, he will explain techniques that help us improve our senses and highlight the problems nature faces today. As Ray says, “We need the wilderness as much as the wilderness needs us. We have learnt to value our green spaces more than ever; it’s time to cease being frustrated and act now to prevent crimes against nature and the environment”.
Simon Reeve
Well known for his inspiring and empathetic programmes, Simon Reeve is one of the UK’s most well-known travel writers and TV presenters. His career has taken him to countries all over the world where he has highlighted the beauty of both physical and human nature, as well as exposing the negative realities in many of these places. Interviewed by Channel 4 and ITV’s Keme Nzerem, Simon will share stories from some of his latest adventures and also talk about how lockdown has affected his outlook. Simon’s talk will take place on Saturday 28th November at 7.30.
