With summer on the way, thoughts are turning to snowy alpine summits and big mountain days in the UK, and this issue’s competition prize is the ideal companion for both of those pursuits. Gregory describe their Alpinisto LT 28 as “a fully-featured alpine pack in a lightweight, configurable package. Integrated gear attachment solutions and removable features allow you to get your gear just the way you like it, so you can focus on the fun part.”
The pack has been built for durability and practicality, with a double thickness base and snow-shedding backpanel, front reflective attachment loops for helmet carry and gear overflow, and anodised aluminium hardware for durability function in the cold.
There’s loads to like about the Alpinisto LT 28, but we’ve chosen three of our favourite aspects of the pack to highlight:
Strippability: The Alpinisto is already no heavyweight at just over 1kg, but you can make it even lighter by stripping off the hipbelt and top pocket, and removing the back sheet. The pack is then ideal for leading tricky pitches or going all out on a summit push.
Expandability: When carrying technical gear during the walk-in to rock or snow routes, space is at a premium in your pack, but with the Alpinisto’s floating lid you can overpack when you need to, then cinch the pack down with the compression straps when you’ve taken your gear out.
Attachability: Another way of carrying gear is on the outside of the pack, and the Alpinisto offers several features for this, including ski loops, ice axe attachments, bungee webbing and rope-retaining strap.
