New Terra tents from Vaude

Vaude have introduced a new range of tents based on tried-and-tested designs, but at affordable prices. The Terra range consists of the Terratrio model, in both 2-person and 3-person versions, and the Terraquattro which is also 3-person.

The Terratrio is based on the long-time Vaude favourite, the Taurus (reviewed in the latest issue of Trek & Mountain), which is quick to erect, uses two main poles and pitches inner and outer simultaneously. Features include taped seams, large porch area, tough ripstop fly sheet, and respectably low weights – under 2.5kg for the 2p and 2.7kg for the 3p. Prices are £165 for the 2p and £195 for the 3p.

The Terraquattro 3p (£270) is based on another Vaude classic, the Mark II, and uses the same distinctive external suspension system which made the Mark II one of the quickest pitching tents around. This tough, 4-season mountain tent can withstand high winds, and yet still only tips the scales at 3.5kg. Other features include a large porch, excellent ventilation for warmer weather and a specially-designed bag that allows the tent to be compressed down small.

The new Terra range is available only in outlets which can provide expert advice, but national chains include Ellis Brigham and Cotswold Outdoor.
