Lighten up with Keen's Verdi range

Is it time to pack away your winter boots and get on some lightweight footwear instead? Hard to tell with our erratic weather, but with spring on its way (in theory!) there’s a rash of new lightweight walking shoes and boots coming onto the market, and the new Keen Verdi range is the latest to hit the stores.

Offering some striking designs combined with Keen’s renowned comfort and protection, the new range are outed as being “ideal for those who want to go lighter and have more fun as they head to the trail this spring.” That’s most of us then!

What about the tech specs you ask? Well, according to Keen the shoes/boots feature a high abrasion resistant closed mesh upper with gusseted tongue construction which protects and keeps out debris, while the brand’s own KEEN.DRY breathable membrane delivers “total climate control in all conditions and weathers”. A metatomical dual density footbed helps deliver underfoot comfort, whilst strobel last construction (using 80% recycled materials) results in a completely seam-free lining. Performance and comfort were the primary considerations in designing the mid and outsole of the boot: a durable dual-density EVA midsole is used for responsive cushioning, while an internal torsion stability heel unit and TPU Arch shank deliver rigidity and stability on even unpredictable terrain. A high-traction carbon rubber outsole features Keen’s patented (and very distinctive!) toe protection system, whilst 4mm aggressive multi-directional lugs ensure optimum grip even on technical approaches and terrain.

And what about prices? The Verdi WP retails at £110 for the mid or £100 for the low cut model and is available in men and women’s specific fits in a range of eye-catching colours, including Hot Coral/Bright Chartreuse and Burnt Henna/Persimmon
