Polar adventure specialists Quark Expeditions will host their first ever floating film event this November, with the launch of the Polar Film Festival.

Taking place aboard Quark’s arctic adventure vessel Sea Spirit during their 23-day Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica via Buenos Aires: Explorers and Kings tour, the event will run from November 2nd, and is to be held in conjunction with Toronto’s Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. All 8 films shown will focus on adventure, the environment, globalisation, or the Polar Regions, while a few will address pop culture.

This year’s documentaries will include Jeff Orlowski’s Chasing Ice, the account of National Geographic photographer James Balog as he braves Arctic conditions to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers, Expedition to the End of the World, which reveals a land of untouched fjords during the annual melting of the North Pole, and Maidentrip, the story of 14-year-old Laura Dekker who sets out to became the youngest person ever to sail solo around the globe.

President of Quark Expeditions Hans Lagerweij said: “Quark is continually striving to provide its passengers with unique experiences when travelling to the Polar Regions. We are really excited to be able to bring this diverse roster of incredible films to our passengers for what is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
