To celebrate their centenary Swedish, family run business; Haglöfs have focused all their experience, passion and craftsmanship into one new product, the Celebratory Backpack Edition: Haglöfs RYGGSÄCK N:o 1.
A century ago, Wiktor Haglöf started making backpacks and sold them in the local market. Today, the brand still driving forward that original vision, brings us this limited edition, completely Swedish-Crafted backpack. This pack is produced by SACCI in Dalarna, the company that Wiktor Haglöfs’ sons, Rolf and Hans Haglöf, started in the mid-1970s after they sold Haglöfs Ryggsäcksfabrik AB.
One of the biggest challenges for Haglöfs in the realisation of this unique project, was ensuring that every single component of the pack was manufactured in Sweden, leaving them with a significantly reduced supply chain. This forced them to be increasingly innovative, combining both modern knowledge and techniques with Haglöfs original and traditional ideas.
The pack has a capacity of 24L and features one large main compartment, two outer pockets on the front, and one secure inner pocket with a key loop. As zippers, plastic buckles or velcro are not manufactured in Sweden, Haglöfs had to go back to the drawing board to find a practical alternative using the historical talents of talented Swedish craftsmen and craftswomen.
The fundamental idea behind this product is to last not just one lifetime, but many. Haglöfs would like each pack to be passed down through the generations, using it’s concealed ‘write on’ label to tell stories of adventure and travel. This concept is a testimony to the traditional Haglöfs build quality and craftsmanship.
