It’s Thursday evening and we’ve just come from the opening ceremony of the 2014 Kendal Mountain Festival, which kickstarts three days of films, lectures and socialising in the heart of the Lake District!
Crowds gathered in the centre of Kendal for the now-traditional screening of the official KMF trailer, introduced by ‘MC’ Andy Perkins and new co-patron of the festival (and local lad) Leo Houlding. The line-up for 2014 looks like being the best in the event’s history, and with support from main sponsor Blacks, the future of KMF looks very rosy.
Trek & Mountain will be supporting the festival again as a media sponsor, and you can catch us at the Base Camp Marquee where we will have a selection of back-issues for sale – plus we are debuting our new and ‘best-ever’ (seriously) subscription offer – a free Powermonkey Explorer 2 charger worth £79 with every 12-issue subscription! Stop by the stand and take away with you the best portable charger on the market – with Xmas around the corner it also makes an awesome present for all trekkers and mountaineers.
We will also be hanging out with Ueli Steck on Saturday, before his headline appearance in the evening. Not only that, T&M reader Christian Shaw will be meeting Steck – one of the world’s leading alpinists and probably the most famous – and asking questions on behalf of Trek & Mountain readers. He will also be picking up his Mountain Hardwear Torsun Jacket that he won as part of the competition. Not your average day out in the Lakes!
If you haven’t already booked tickets for any of the talks or film screenings at KMF, check the link below – and in the meantime why not get a flavour of what is on offer over the next three days with the official KMF 2014 trailers – WATCH IT HERE!
