Passionate about manufacturing products ethically, Haglöfs is one of today’s most sustainable developers of well-made clothing and equipment for the mountains.
During 2013, Haglöfs defined an array of tough sustainability goals. They aim to ensure that 50% of clothing products sold are made from recycled material, and 80% of clothing manufactured with bluesign®-approved materials. In addition, 50% of their hardware will be manufactured using bluesign®-approved or recycled material, and 40% of footwear products made from recycled material.
The prestigious award of “Sustainability Brand of the Year” from Swedish trade magazine, Sportfack, was presented at Swesport, the Swedish outdoor and sports trade show, held in Stockholm on January 11-12th.
“We are very proud to receive this award, it is a solid recognition of the hard and consistent work that we have put into the sustainability area during recent years” ~Lennart Ekberg, Director of Sustainability at Haglöfs
This award, and Haglöfs’ core values, show that they have sincere respect for the planet, and hopefully the users of their products can be inspired to help preserve our vulnerable ecosystem too. The lifespan of their high quality products often exceeds the span of use for most people. All equipment, new or old, always has great value to someone- giving away equipment we no longer need is a great way to help those around us, and also reduces waste.
