Peak District adventure company Will4Adventure has announced details of its charity challenge Challenge4Charity 2018 – a 50-mile sponsored walk through the Peak District National Park to be completed inside 24 hours in aid of Action4Diabetics

Action4Diabetes was co-founded by Jerry Gore, accomplished expedition mountaineer and leading advocate for children with diabetes and who himself has diabetes. This event is being organised by Will4Adventure on a completely voluntary basis with all funds raised going to the charity.

Around 400 million people in the world live with diabetes. More than half live in Asia. Many of these people don’t even know why they’re ill. This charity has a simple and easily achieved aim: Action4Diabetics helps to provide life giving medical care and essential development support for young people with Type 1 Diabetes in emerging countries in Asia. They make a difference and change lives for the better. £400 will keep one child alive for one year.

Challenge4Charity is a continuous sponsored walk, with no opportunities for sleeping, or for separate team members to walk separate stages: it is purely a case of walk … as far as your legs will take you! With regular marshals and support drivers you have the option to walk as far as you can up to the maximum of 50 miles inside 24 hours.

When and where?

This event will commence on Saturday 21st April 2018 at 7am. It will finish on Sunday 22nd April at 7am … or when walkers can walk no further – whichever happens first! (Runners and faster walkers are invited to start at the later time of 0800).

The route of the walk leads from the city of Sheffield through the Peak District to the small village of Youlegrave, just outside Bakewell and then takes you back again via a circular route. The walk takes in the iconic gritstone edges from Stanage to Baslow before it descends through the green pastures of the Chatsworth Estate. Throughout it is easy to follow and steers clear of roads as far as possible.
