Looking for a challenge in 2023? Then why not consider taking on one of the walks in Cancer Research UK’s Big Hike 2023 challenge?

The Big Hike is a series of full and half marathon hiking challenges, held in four stunning locations across the UK. Take big steps towards beating cancer by hiking through rising hills, river valleys and taking in spectacular views across the countryside. Explore the great outdoors and raise money for our life-saving research.

There are four different locations for the hikes, and here are the details:

Big Hike Peak District

Start and finish venue: Bakewell Showground, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1AH

Arrival window full marathon: from 07:00 am to 08:30 am on Saturday 3 June 2023

Arrival window half marathon: from 08:30 am to 09:15 am on Saturday 3 June 2023

Distance full marathon: 26.2 miles, 528 metres elevation gain

Distance half marathon: 13 miles, 373 metres elevation gain

Big Hike Loch Lomond

Start and finish venue: Drymen Show Field, Drymen Bridge, Drymen, Stirlingshire, G63 0EY

Arrival window full marathon: between 07:00 am and 07:45 am on Saturday 10 June 2023

Arrival window half marathon: between 09:00 am and 09:45 am on Saturday 10 June 2023

Distance full marathon: 26.3 miles, 721 metres elevation gain

Distance half marathon: 13.5 miles, 422 metres elevation gain

Big Hike South Coast

Start and finish venue: Alfriston Camping Park, Pleasant Rise Farm, Polegate, BN26 5TN.

Arrival window full marathon: between 07:00 am and 08:30 am on Saturday 1 July 2023

Arrival window half marathon: between 09:00 am and 09:45 am on Saturday 1 July 2023

Distance full marathon: 26.2 miles, 788 metres elevation gain

Distance half marathon: 13.2 miles, 425 metres elevation gain

Big Hike Jurassic Coast

Start and finish venue: Norden Farm, Corfe Castle, Dorset, BH20 5DS

Arrival window full marathon: from 07:00 am to 08:30 am on Saturday 8 July 2023

Arrival window half marathon: from 08:30 am to 09:15 am on Saturday 8 July 2023

Distance full marathon: 26.4 miles, 833 metres elevation gain

Distance half marathon: 13.9 miles, 461 metres elevation gain
