Only 400 of these limited edition jackets exist, and we have both a men’s and women’s model to give away this month!
This very special, limited-edition jacket from Sprayway has been made to celebrate the brand reaching 40 years of keeping hillwalkers and mountaineers warm, dry and comfortable. The vibrant blue and green colour scheme is a nod to an alpine suit worn by British mountaineer Alison Hargreaves whom the brand sponsored back in the 90s before her tragic and untimely death on K2.
The Grendel (men’s) and Vela (women’s) are made from Gore Windstopper – offering total wind protection and excellent breathability – and both jackets are built over a layer of synthetic insulation which is warm enough to feel comfy with just a T-shirt or baselayer on underneath. The stretch side panels offer great breathability where you need it and, along with the jacket’s slim, technical fit, allow a good range of movement on the mountain. The hood will keep the wind out and is insulated to keep your ears warm. The Grendel has two big, deep handwarmer pockets with chunky zippers – and in freezing winter conditions, there’s no better place to stick your hands! Perhaps the party piece, though, comes in the shape of the huge inner pocket on the left breast that doubles as a stuff sack.
What else? Well, the hem of the jacket can be cinched closed with double elastic pullcords, and the close-fitting cuffs will keep out the worst of the wind. This is a jacket where no corners have been cut. You get custom zipper pulls, top-end fabrics and neat touches like a comfy zipper chin-guard. There is nothing missing. It’s just a really great, comfortable jacket – capable of dealing with the worst that the British weather can throw at you!
