In 1990 company founder Tim Macartney-Snape climbed Everest from the Bay of Bengal, after 4 months, Tim finally set foot on the highest point on earth. Tim’s solo ascent was dubbed the ‘Sea to Summit’ expedition, with it being the first true climb taking in the entire 8,848 metres of Mt Everest. Back in Australia, Tim joined forces with climbing friend, sewing enthusiast and design guru Roland Tyson to build a business that could make use of their knowledge of the outdoors to create truly ingenious, well-made but affordable outdoor equipment in the spirit of the ‘Sea to Summit’ expedition.
