Hanwag, based in the Bavarian town of Vierkirchen at the foot of the Alps, has been producing high-quality outdoor mountain and trekking boots for more than 90 years. Founded in 1921 by Hans Wagner, the company is steeped in heritage and continues to combine highly prized, traditional construction methods with up-to-the-minute innovations and advanced components.
Handcrafted with passion: Every pair of Hanwag boots is backed by almost a century of boot-making expertise. The mountains are in our blood and we are passionate about creating fantastic footwear that enables more people to enjoy life outdoors.
Fusing tradition with innovation: We are very proud of our heritage and continue to combine proven construction techniques with the latest materials and design innovations. Every pair of boots we manufacture is made in Europe using a high quality last construction technique that is exceptionally stable and fully resoleable. We are also one of the few remaining footwear brands with the expertise to produce exclusive double-stitched or ‘Zwiegenӓht’ footwear.
Finding the perfect fit: Fit is fundamental at Hanwag and we are committed to creating shoes and boots perfect for feet of all shapes and sizes. Our unique range of lasts continues to expand with the addition of wide, narrow, bunion and natural fit options. Constructed from top quality components, our footwear is made from premium quality leather for out of the box comfort.
Taking a sustainable path… With the mountains and the outdoors as our inspiration, the issue of sustainability is close to our hearts. Hanwag aims to minimise its carbon footprint across every aspect of its production and we are unfaltering in our search for evermore eco-friendly materials. As well as our award-winning Bio collection made from organic leather, Hanwag also offers a range made from incredibly soft yet durable Yak leather.
