For technical mountain pursuits in summer, your clothing layers need to be both lightweight and functional – and that’s exactly what the designers at Rab had in mind when designing their Alpine Defined collection.

Consisting of base, mid and outer layers, plus lightweight sleeping bags, the pieces are designed to function together to give you flexible comfort and protection in demanding alpine conditions. This month we are giving away a complete layering system (one for men and one for women) consisting of the Flashpoint Jacket, Continuum Pull On/Jacket and Interval Long Sleeve Tee baselayer. Let’s take a closer look at the individual pieces in the collection…

Flashpoint Jacket
Available for both men and women, the Flashpoint Jacket is Rab’s lightest weight waterproof jacket, using a new Flashpoint
fabric unique to Rab, offering the ultimate balance of performance, weight and protection. Designed with fast-and-light, summer alpine or emergency use, the Flashpoint Jacket weighs only 180g (large) yet still features a number of technical climbing features. These include a helmet-compatible hood, minimalistic seams to improve breathability, and a minimalistic stuff sack which can be easily attached to a harness during favourable weather windows.

Continuum Pull-On and Jacket
The Continuum Pull-On and Continuum Jacket are Rab’s lightest-weight down pieces, offering the ultimate in low-bulk warmth, yet still technically featured for use in the mountains. Born out of the desire to create the world’s lightest yet fully functional mountain gear, the Continuum Pull-On and Jacket are specialist pieces designed to offer emergency protection and super lightweight warmth in the mountains. Weighing just 230g (Large Pull-On), and 310g (size 12 Jacket) they pack down to next to nothing, due to the unique baffle design that prevents down migration. Despite  their low weight, the Continuum Pull-On and Jacket use the highest quality 850-fillpower fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic down, an updated Pertex Quantum GL inner and outer fabric, YKK lightweight zips and elasticated cuffs, to create the ultimate lightweight, fully featured mountain layer.

Interval Long Sleeve Tee
New for Spring/Summer ’16, the Interval Tee is a lightweight, fast drying technical tee, with Polygiene odour control, designed for active use in varied conditions. The polyester fabric of the Interval Tee is treated with Polygiene – an active odour control technology which maintains the freshness for the lifetime of the garment. The Interval Tee features a polyester grid knit, flatlock low-bulk seams and 35+ UPF. With a regular fit, the Interval Tee can be worn as a baselayer in cold conditions, or as a lightweight technical tee in warm conditions.
