The Mountain Company is an award-winning adventure travel operator specialising in cultural tours, treks and expeditions to the Himalaya and Karakoram. We are an independent travel company with expertise in organising trips in Nepal, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Tibet and Burma (Myanmar). We believe to succeed in delivering the highest standards of service we should be specialists by focusing on a small number of countries.
We have built up a reputation for organising treks to very remote regions of the Himalaya such as Ladakh Sky Trail (India), Lunana Snowman (Bhutan), Dhaulagiri Circuit (Nepal), Snow Lake via Hispar La (Pakistan), Saribung Expedition (Nepal) and also along The Great Himalaya Trail in Nepal including Naar to Upper Mustang GHT, Dolpo to Jomsom GHT, Kanchenjunga to Makalu GHT and Makalu to Everest GHT.
Over the last fifteen years we have developed a deep understanding of the main sights and attractions, hotels and lodges, trekking routes, conditions and culture of these countries. Our Managing Director, Roland Hunter, has personally completed the majority of our trips so he will give you advice based on his first-hand knowledge and experience.
The Mountain Company is a member of The Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO). In February 2019 we won AITO Tour Operator of the Year 2018. This means a lot to us as this award is based on our AITO Traveller’s Reviews received during 2018 and we got more Excellent rated reviews than the other 122 members of AITO.
We work closely with the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG) and follow their five guidelines for porter protection. The Mountain Company is an accredited trek operator in the Great Himalaya Trail (GHT) Alliance. We are actively involved in sustainable tourism through AITO Project Protect having successfully completed approved projects in 2018 & 2017 for collecting rubbish in the Himalaya.
The Mountain Company is based in London, UK although our trekking groups are international with people coming from different countries of the world. Trek on!
