La Sportiva launch ski mountaineering clothing range

La Sportiva, best known for their technical mountaineering boots – is entering the technical winter clothing market this winter with a line dedicated to ski mountaineering in all its forms – race, touring and free-ride.

The range comprises hard shells, soft shells, insulation layers, mid layers and base layers, all aimed at enhancing lightweight, thermal properties, freedom of movement and volume reduction. Alongside the technical race line, which has been inspired by the super lightweight race model ‘Stratos’, La Sportiva have a range of hard shell, waterpoof jackets; body warmers and jumpers in Primaloft; and next-to-skin products treated with the anti-bacterial compound Polygiene.

“Over the last two years, our aim has been to expand within the ski mountaineering market”, says Managing Director Lorenzo Delladio. “Firstly, we completed our hard goods line – launching in 2008 with the carbon  model “Stratos” – and which now comprises a range of boots, skis and bindings.  We then proceeded with the addition of a complete line of technical clothing specifically designed for the ski mountaineer who pursues his interests in low alpine tempereatures too”.

“To trace new paths, to follow virgin trails, to leave the beaten track. This is the nature of the ski mountaineer”, continues Mr. Delladio, “a style that perfectly represents La Sportiva’s approach: always on the look-out for innovative solutions and always willing to find new solutions for core business products”.

We are hoping to look at some of Sportiva’s new ski mountaineering kit in an upcoming issue, but in the meantime you can find out more at their website below.
