Moro and Goettler to attempt winter Nanga Parbat

Nanga Parbat RESIZED
The North Face are supporting an expedition to attempt the first ever winter ascent of Nanga Parbat in the western Himalayas.

Set to depart later this month, The Nanga Parbat Winter Expedition 2014 will see The North Face athletes Simone Moro and David Goettler battle extreme conditions as they endeavour to become the first Alpinists to reach the summit in winter. Joined by fellow athlete Emilio Previtali, who will deliver updates from the mountain via social media, the team will take up to three months to complete the ascent in what is described as the most demanding climbing season in the Himalaya.

Standing at 8125m high in Pakistan, Nanga Parbat is the world’s ninth highest peak and is known for being notoriously difficult to climb. The expedition will take place as part of The North Face’s mission to reinvent exploration on 8000m peaks in winter.
