Britain On Foot launches

October 24th marks the launch of Britain on Foot – a new scheme to encourage the British public to improve their health and fitness by spending more time outdoors – at Westminster, to an audience of outdoor industry leaders and national politicians.

On the same day, pillar campaign ‘Adventure is GREAT’, which promotes Britain as a country for adventure and raises the profiles of outdoor activities, will reveal their official Facebook page.

Outdoor Industries Association chief executive Andrew Denton has been lobbying hard at Westminster to promote both schemes, his recent impromptu chat with the Prime Minister gave him a chance to push the message of the importance of outdoor activities.

Denton said:  “I was able to mention the launch of Britain on Foot and the Prime Minister showed genuine interest in the project. This represents another step in building political awareness of our industry and the huge value to the country of the outdoor economy”.

Co-hosting the event, the British Mountaineering Council along with members of the All Party Parliamentary Mountaineering Group will join Denton at Westminster to discuss the potential of Britain on Foot and other national projects that promote themes of British outdoor adventure.
